Why WordPress
One of the decisions that we made early on with setting up the Redshift Wireless business was to use WordPress as a Web Site and Blogging platform. The decision was made after a lot of thought and reflection. We wanted a web platform that was easy to set up and maintain, that looked fairly good. WordPress seemed to fit the bill in that respect.
The other requirement was to include a blogging platform. When getting a new business up and running, generating content for the web site can be a challenge, but writing a blog can assist here. Rather than have a separate blogging platform, we wanted it to be integrated, so that we could include commenting should we decide to go down that path in the future.
I am not saying that WordPress is the ideal platform, but it seems to be working fairly well for us. We will see how it goes once the number of people visiting our web site increases, and the content managed by the web site likewise increases. But the good thing is that WordPress is common enough so that there are numerous tools for getting data out of WordPress and into another tool if the need arises.
