I have just designed a printed circuit board for an upcoming Redshift Wireless product. In some respects, getting a PCB made is a bit of a cheat since I mostly did the design because I was too lazy to actually prototype it by hand. I figured that I would get a great result for very little money if I invested the small amount of time in the design. So I spent some time learning EaglePCB.
Now comes time to get the PCB made. I have two options. The first allows me make 10 PCB’s, but I can fit three of my design onto the board. That means that it will end up with me having 30 PCB’s for my money. The place in Thailand that was recommended would only produce the 10 PCB’s, although if I paid a bit more I could get larger boards which I could then split.
The first place offered the boards for $9.90, whereas the second place offered the boards for $65.00. I am assuming the quality is about the same. In effect, I can get the boards for $0.33 each from the first place, or $6.50 at the second place. Guess where I will be going?
