Saving Energy in Schools
Is reducing energy consumption in schools possible, or is it simply ‘Too Hard’? Thanks to Redshift Wireless, significantly reducing the energy consumption within schools is not only possible, it is easy, and can be automated. Based in Sydney, Australia, Redshift Wireless has just released an Air Conditioning management product that is aimed at organizations of all sizes that have split system air conditioners and heaters. In the past, in order to do energy management, a ducted system was needed. No more.
The system that we have developed replaces your remote controls with a device that sits on the wall to control the Air Conditioner or Heater. The system is designed as far as possible to ‘set and forget’. Rather than using a remote control, any internet device can be used to control the unit, including phones, tablets, PC’s and Computers. You do not even need to be in the same room for this to work. Even better, any or all the units can be controlled from the school office. There are even advanced timer features allowing units to automatically be turned off at the end of the day.
We also understand that administrators and staff do not always agree on the correct temperature settings for classrooms. In this case, we allow the administrator to provide limits on the settings, while staff get to choose the actual temperature. The staff cannot exceed what the administrator has set, even if they have decided to turn any or all the units off. In this way, significant savings can be made.
We also know that special events come up in schools from time to time, such as assemblies or excursions. Our software makes it easy to adjust things so that Air Conditioners are not left on when they are not needed. We can even automatically turn units back on just before the students return to their rooms.
With all these features, we believe that most schools should be able to make the cost of the install back within a year or two.
