Why Internet Control makes sense.
The photo attached to this post shows why Internet Control is starting to make sense.
I took this photo about five hours drive from Sydney, in what could be called the Australian Bush. The farmhouse is getting close to 100 years old, with traditional corrugated iron roofing, and asbestos fibro walls. The house is about 1km from the nearest road, in the middle adjoining a rather rocky canola field. The house is heated with an old wood fire, and relies on rainwater. It is about 10km from the nearest town. They have a phone line, but it is not uncommon for it not to work for days at a time following a big storm.
But you know what? They have Internet thanks to Satellite Broadband through ipstar. Sure, this is not the worlds fastest way to connect to the Internet, but it works, and it will improve in the next few years with the National Broadband Network.
Despite the problems, the availability of Satellite internet throughout Australia and the rest of the world is allowing cloud based computing to reach even those outside the big cities.
