WordPress Updated
One of the tasks today was to update this website so that it is maintainable over the longer term. When we got the web site design done, the designers gave us the look that we wanted. However, they modified the WordPress theme directly, rather than ‘overloading’ it using the custom CSS functionality in the software. So, today we upgraded to the latest version of the WordPress theme we were using, and then worked out what customization was done by the designers.
This took a surprising amount of time. Turns out I should have worked out what the differences were before I upgraded as there were a large number of changes. Regardless of this, we now have WordPress where we can mostly do automatic updates. MOSTLY!
The only issue is that I need to add some references in the header.php file to include things like the favicon.ico and link to Google Analytics. These need to be updated manually. For those that don’t know, favicon.ico is the file that contains the logo that is used on tabs and the like.
